Our Philosophy
View Rational holds strongly to the principle that a good, happy and fulfilling life can be achieved only through an honest and rational view of the world. This view must necessarily be realistic and so cannot be centered on the self. We believe that by gaining a clearer perspective of the world, you can live a more orderly and fruitful life, giving care to yourself when necessary, and thought to others at all other times.
Central concepts in our programs are virtues of honesty, humility, integrity, trust, loyalty, charity, respect, forgiveness, patience and love. Both men and women, young and old can benefit from these virtues practiced. We will seek to give you a clear meaningful understanding of these virtues as well as helping you to understand where your failings lie and most crucially, how you can begin to learn, heal and grow in your life.
We recognize and affirm the existence of the human spirit and the importance of faith in a real and personal God, but we reject firmly the applications of superstition, spiritualism and mysticism (for example yoga, transcendental meditation and many new age practices) because they are not rational bases for practical and productive lives. We also reject the premises of post-modern schools of psychology that view the mind as an evolutionary artifact, because we view this assumption as unfounded, irrational in itself, and harmful to the dignity and mental health of human beings.
In contrast to the conventional philosophies of lifestyle coaches, psychotherapists and counselors we encourage critical thinking and self-analysis and we will focus on helping you become a better person. In this way, you can be rightly justified and honest in feeling better about yourself and better prepared when meeting life’s challenges.
We do not subscribe to conventional drug therapies or psychiatry, but understand that some cases may need such specialist treatment. We hold our responsibility to our clients above all other considerations and will advise you if we feel our coaching, counselling or mentoring has reached a natural conclusion, whether it end in referral or happy resolution. We will focus on developing intellectual, behavioural and emotional competencies which will help our clients live more grounded, happy and purposeful lives.
